I AM WRITING to give my support to Alan Sherwood who operates the Junction 23 Lorry Park (CM 26 February).

There seems to be discrimination depending on where you are in the UK.

I clearly saw a sign on the M6 northbound indicating the Lymm Lorry Park, so why should similar signs be a problem in other parts of the country?

It is clearly visible by the number of trucks often parked on the hard shoulder at the exit of motorway service areas that there is insufficient space on these sites — this is confirmed by many of our night trunk drivers who find it difficult to park for their statutory breaks.

New drivers on the road who are unaware of where many of our truckstops are situated would also benefit from clear signing.

Surely it is better to direct HGVs to a truckstop than to have them entering towns looking for one of the ever diminishing number of lorry parks?

I can only plead that those responsible let common sense prevail and allow drivers to find
