Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WE WRITE in response to the article headlined "A Date with Destiny" (CM 22 January).

The 'hiccup encountered by Robin Meczes during his review of the software Alert! Transport Manager, whereby the alert system failed to progress from green through yellow, red and purple has been addressed. We must stress that while we were able to replicate the problem encountered by Robin none of our customers were affected by it.

This then created subsequent frequent reminders at the green level, which could only he dismissed individual ly.This was caused by the system not progressing through the colour coding. which has been addressed.

Alert! Transport Manager comes with Adobe Acrobat Reader V5.The majority of users will still be using this version but the software now reads all versions of Acrobat.

We believe that the product is competitively priced: however, we plan to release a cheaper restricted version for the smaller operator. We are so confident that users will see the benefit of using Alert!Transport Manager that there is no fixed contractual period — if users decide the product is not for them they cease subscribing.

An off-the-shelf alternative can mean greater outlay, without the option of a refund. Ongoing subscriptions cover software upgrades and legislative changes.

Alert! Transport Manager was created to keep users on the right side of the law, avoiding heavy financial penalties, the costs of which far outweigh the monthly subscription.

In creating Alert! Transport Manager we sought to replace the paper-based methods still used by many hauliers to keep them on the right side of Public Inquiries: such systems are prone to human error.

As your review indicated, our software covers a lengthy list from annual test to safety, tachograph, trailer and calibration inspeclions, vehicle and excise licences, goods-intransit, employer's liability and buildings. It also tracks repair costs and VOR incidents. While the above can he programmed into Microsoft Outlook or a PDA.should a user have the inclination, these software packages do not offer the same flexibility.

If there is a VOR for any reason, simply input this into our system and the renewals associated with that vehicle are automatically updated at the specified intervals rather than by calendar period. This logic is not part of the other programmes mentioned, which require manual updates.

We look forward to a continued working relationship with CM and its readers to continuously improve our products to keep hauliers on the right side of the law.
