Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A haulier is set to lease artics to three drivers it planned to make redundant last Saturday, so it can take them on as owner-driven.

Dual Carriage says it will pay its Southampton-based drivers redundancy above the Government minimum and cut the market lease fee by 15%. The company uses 100 existing owner-drivers at other sites.

The Southampton drivers, age 46-50, are still deciding whether to accept the lease deal, at the end of which they would have the option to buy.

If the drivers decide to keep the artics in Dual Carriage livery, they will be paid a month earlier and would be free to take outside work if orders slumped, says management accountant John McNaughton. He says the deal will allow the firm to reverse the Southampton fleet's small loss last year into profit So far, two drivers look likely to accept. They are being offered a year's contract on C and D-registration 38-tonners. Another driver, being asked to look into a three year contract for an F-reg truck, is still unsure.
