ridge which forms at the top end of worn cylinder bores is being marketed by the Cords Piston Ring Co., Ltd., 906 Harrow Road, London. N.W.10.
It is designed for use with a tommy bar, a method of operation which gives much greater control over the tool. Location is automatic and adjustment is carried out by means of a screwdriver.
It is claimed that the saving in labour costs as compared with hand-scraping is such that, even if only one set of four ridges be removed per week, the tool, which costs £3 19s. (2.2 in. to 3.125 in.) or £4 17s. 6d. (3.0 in. to 4.5 in.), will pay for itself in three months.
