Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FTA is game for night drops

THE 2012 OLYMPICS in London could be the catalyst hauliers need to carry out nighttime deliveries throughout the UK, argues the Freight Transport Association (FTA).

During the three weeks the Olympics will take place, the Olympic Route Network (ORN) — a series of roads giving games officials, athletes and the media priority at certain times in the mornings and evenings to and from Olympic venues — will restrict daytime access to shops for delivery drivers. This will also affect other services such as street cleaning and refuse collection.

Gordon Telling, FTA London policy manager, told CM at the inaugural meeting of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) Freight Industry Stakeholder Group: "This is going to give delivery companies the opportunity to argue for more deliveries at right because this will be necessary to keep the Olympics going.

"We say that if it proves successful, why not keep the situation in place after the Olympics and export the idea to other parts of the country?"
