The manufacturer still makes a variety of tyres to suit urban, long distance, off-road, on/off-road and medium-distance application. The sizes range from 17.5-inch up to 22,5 inches, Rather than add to the range, the company has instead focused its attention on after-sales service for small fleet operators. Dubbed "Ask the Michelin Man" the service allows ownerdrivers, transport managers and small fleet owners to contact Michelin on any tyre-related issues even if they are using a rival manufacturer's tyres.
"Smaller fleets have been telling us that they would like greater access to tech nice' assistance and advice on how to improve their tyre performance," says Martin Covington, head of marketing for Michelin truck tyres UK.
"Taking simple steps, such as fitting lower rolling resistance tyres, adjusting pressures or regroo\Mg, can have a significant impact on your bottom line, whether you run a single tractor unit and trailer or a fleet of 10 rigids."
