Special Offer

STUDENTS can enrol now for the CM Special offer course for the Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (National). The next Royal Society of Arts examination is on June 24. Courses for this started on June 6. After this there is not another examination until October.

The Certificate of Professional Competence is a vital qualification in the road transport industry, whether you are engaged in haulage or passenger services.

Applicants for operators' licences must demonstrate to the Licensing Authority that they are professionally competent and a CPC is acceptable evidence that you or your transport managers are suitably qualified. Applications must be submitted nine weeks before the licence is required, so it is necessary to plan your studies well ahead.

This CM/RTCC Special Offer gives you the opportunity to study in your own time under the guidance of an experienced tutor to whom you can refer by phone or letter at any time (Eddie Pargeter and Frank Lewsey — Witney 3481).

Home-study packs for Goods National, Goods International and PSV National cover the whole syllabus for the Royal Society of Arts examinations, and no other reading material is necessary. There are selfassessment questions at the end of each section, with the answers at the end of the module, to enable you to check your progress through the course. Each pack contains two mock examinations, very much like the CPC exam itself, for you to attempt and send to your course tutor for marking and assessment.

The packs come to you in sturdy ring binders which enable you to retain your course notes as a comprehensive reference book for future use.

Five examinations are held at intervals over the year. The National exam consists of 60 questions to be answered in 90 minutes while the International allows 60 minutes to answer 30 questions. All the questions are multiple-choice type, as are all the questions in the home-study packs. No written answers are required. The exam may be taken at the RTCC centre at Esher, Surrey, or at local examination centres throughout the United Kingdom. Entries must be submitted a month before the exam date and an entry fee paid to the centre.

The Commercial Motor Special Offer prices of the various home-study packs are: Goods National £93 (or three payments of £31); Goods International £69 (or two payments of £36); PSV National £108 (or three payments of £36).
