Paradise lost

PLANS by West Midlands PTE to use the new Paradise Circus bus station have now been dropped.

The idea had provoked much criticism from passengers who wanted to be carried right to the city centre. Now plans to ban vehicles and pedestrianise the city centre are now being re-thought to allow buses to use these streets.

Bus promotion

ONE AREA of Cheltenham has been selected as the site for a promotional exercise designed to increase bus usage. All homes within this sector of the town will have travel details and timetables delivered through the door.

The success of the scheme can be measured by any increase of traffic on routes through the area.

Glasgow link

A SERVICE linking Glasgow to Cheltenham has been announced by National Travel (South-West). Arrival from Glasgow will be at 1400 to connect with 1430 departures to Devon, Cornwall, Southern England and Wales. The service, is due to begin at the end of June.

The period return fare will be E11,65 and journey will take seven hours, calling only at Hamilton.
