Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Tim Hoare • The Royal Air Force, St Athan, dominated the Oxford LDoY eliminator last weekend scoring consistently low marks and supplying the winners of Class A, Class B and Class C as well as the overall winner and collecting the team prize. Cpl Gibson was overall winner incurring only 59 penalty points in Class B.

As has been evident from the results in other areas the written test is causing a lot of trouble this year and many competitors found to their cost that questions included ones on legal responsibility as well as the Highway Code. Scores in this section of the competition ranged from the 10 penalties of Cpl. Glenn, who came second in Class E, to scores in the 200 range made by some competitors.

It was the written test that decided the winner of Class F when the final scores of F. G. Townsend and T. Green were found to tie at 114 points. Mr Green, however, had lost 30 points in the written test against the 50 lost by Mr Townsend and so he took the class.

L. Hillier did well in Class D for rigid vehicles over 28ft in length to win from second man J. Percival with a clear margin of 100 points, while in Class E there was a close-fought battle between R. J. Marfell and Cpl Glenn not resolved until the final manoeuvring test when Col Glenn made a bad mistake and lost 76 points to lose the class by a mere three points.
