Passenger Who Threw Away His Ticket
IT was held by West Hartlepool magis1 trates on Monday that there is no obligation on any bus operating staff to find a ticket discarded by a passsengcr. In a case involving a man who was alleged to have failed to pay his fare, it was stated that when asked to show his ticket to a corporation bus inspector, the passenger said he had thrown it on the floor.
Fre added that he had paid for his ticket and "that should be enough."
The magistrates said that although they were discharging the offender absolutely. on payment of 9s. 6d. costs, the transport department had been justified in bringing the case.
