Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

YOUR HEADLINE "Bing on the Tyne not fine, online" about the launch of the Tyne and Wear interactive website www. tyncandwearfreightinfo (CM 21 December) was witty but the story rather missed the point.

This information isn't solely for local operators — it can be used by local, national and international drivers who are planning to visit the area. They can do this directly by accessing the website, or by e-mailing the companies in Tyne and Wear requiring the deliveries With the amount of foreign vehicles and drivers on the road increasing yearly, this website will prove to be a useful tool for drivers who do not have the same local knowledge as your quoted North-East haulier.

The Tyne and Wear Partnership is well supported by local businesses such as Co-operative Retail Logistics' Birtley RDC; Faber Maunsell is aware, following conversations with hundreds of drivers, that they often know how to get close to a destination —it's the last few miles from the motorway or main road that often causes real problems.

CM should be getting behind a local authority that is prepared to act to help freight operators, wherever they are based.
