• Police investigating the Celine Figard murder have renewed their appeal for the lorry driver who gave her a lift at Chievely Services to come forward. They believe he may come from a firm which bans lifts to hitchhikers and fears disciplinary action.
• Seven million motorists, or one in every five, are driving with defective eyesight and one in ten would fail the driving test, according to a report by vehicle windscreen specialists Autogloss.
• The RHA has launched a Credit Management Service for its members, which is designed to protect and improve cashflow. The package includes credit advice, credit checking, and vehicle checking.
• International commercial vehicle rental company Dawsonrentols has opened three new branches in the UK, at Hull, Swansea and Belfast. This brings its UK network to 44.
• Harris Logistics, the contract services arm of Transport Development Group (TDG), has opened an £8m rail and road-linked distribution centre next to Scotland's Eurocentral Channel Tunnel rail freight terminal in Mossend, Lanarkshire.
• NEC paid £2.1m in compensation and pension enhancements to five directors who left the freight group last year. The biggest payout, to former chief executive Peter Sherlock, was 2585,000.
• The National Rivers Authority has asked motorists who change their own engine oil to use recycling banks after a recent report showed that almost 20,000 tonnes of used oil is improperly disposed of every year. The NRA has set up a freephone number to find your nearest bank on 0800 663366.
