• United Transport is planning to take on more drivers after restructuring its operations by splitting into two separate divisions to cope with expansion. Extra drivers are needed to service new contracts.
United's new Food and Drink division, which will operate 400 vehicles from 21 locations, will look after all its trade in the edibles, milk, flour milling, brewing and bulk food ingredients sectors.
The Petrochemical and industrial division, operating 350 vehicles from 24 depots, will handle all the contracts in the petroleum, bulk, chemical, gas and other industrial sectors.
United has won more than £19m-worth of milk market business in the past year.
