large overseas orders in 1963 for Leylands and Albions have come from Australia. Albion is to supply 80 Chieftain 7-tanners and Leyland 68 Beavers. Altogether the Orders are worth £360,000.
IN PROGRESS: Bodywork is now being built in Calcutta on 50 Leyland Comet chassis ordered by the Indian Ministry of Transport and Communications for work between Bengal and Assam.
FOR LOCAL ASSEMBLY: Orders for 20 Reliance and six Monarch chassis sets have been received by A.E.C. Ltd. from Portugal. The Reliance order is from Uniao de Transportadores para Importacoe Comereio Ltda of Lisbon and the chassis, which will be shipped C.K.D., will he built into U.T.I.C. integrally constructed single-decker buses. The Monarchs, which have been ordered by Stand Modemo of Lisbon, will also be shipped in C.K.D. form and assembled by U.T.I.C.
RHONDDA TO INCREASE FLEET: The Rhondda Transport Co. Ltd. is to increase its fleet of A.E.C. double-decker buses to 118 by an order placed with A.E.C. this week for 10 Regent Mk. Vs. They will be fitted with 27-ft.-long 65-seater forwardentrance bodies built by Northern Counties Motor and Engineering Co. Lid., Wigan.
LIQUID HYDROGEN TRANSPORTERS: Two 1,000-litre liquid hydrogen transporters have been ordered from British Oxygen by the Ministry of Aviation for the Rocket Propulsion Establishment, Westcott, Bucks. They are part of the equipment required for the first testing of liquid-hydrogen-fuelled rocket motors in the U.K. and will be the biggest liquid hydrogen containers in this country. They will be used to deliver fuel from the hydrogen liquefiers to the rocket motor test rig. The tanks will be 6 ft. 9 in. long and 3 ft. 9 in. in diameter, and will , be mounted on a four-wheeled steerable trailer.
