Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

P1 has been introduced by Telehoist Ltd. The range is based on two basic rams, a two-stage unit with ram diameters of 3-25 in, and 2-625 in. and a three-stage unit with ram diameters of 3-875 in.,. 3-25 in. and 2-625 in.

Each basic ram is made with different stroke lengths to meet the requirements of various vehicles, and they can be converted into threeor four-stage units respectively by the addition of an auxiliary inner piston. This supplements the range of strokes available. Singleand twin-ram versions are made and lifting capacities from 10 to 20 tons arc catered for. There are eight single-ram gears suitable for body lengths of 8 ft. to 16 ft. and nine twin-ram gears suitable for body lengths of 10 ft. bin, to 21 ft.

The ram units are mounted on a hollow transverse member which also serves as a reservoir for the hydraulic fluid -and is pivoted on brackets on the vehicle frame. The ram units can be removed easily for servicing. Hydraulic power is supplied by a Telehoist swathplate pump (3-, 5or 7-cylinder versions are available) and power take-off.

Bedford 1962 Output A LTHOUGH Vauxhall Motors' production of cars and commercial vehicles in 1962, totalling 220,805 units,

• was up on the previous year by 23 per cent, Bedford truck and van output declined by 19 per cent. However, the Bedford share of the market was well maintained.

As in every year since the War, more than half of all production was exported. Total exports were 111,930 units, of which 67,823 were cars. Truck, van, bus and coach chassis production for 1962 was 76,661 units (94,595 units in 1961).

AAN interesting demonstration of the German .Meiller dumper/placer took place on Monday at the Barnham. Norfolk, premises of Sheppard Fabrications Ltd., sole selling and manufacturing agents in the U.K. for F. X. Meiller, Munich, Geimany. Sheppard is to import the hydraulic equipment frori Germany but will build the rest of the dumper/placer unit at the Barnham works.

The dumper/placer comprises a stiffening frame and platform, tipping/lifting arms, stabilizing jacks, tipping hooks and the hydraulic system. The stiffening frame is attached to the vehicle chassis. The platform carries on each side the arms and hydraulic cylinders by means of which containers and loads are lifted and placed. The two tipping and loading arms are operated by two cylinders supplied with oil by a six-cylinder, horizontally opposed, high-pressure pump.

Operation of the unit is controlled by levers either in the cab or on the side of the vehicle. The dumper/placer units may be fitted to whatever chassis the customer specifies. Various forms of container are available, but these may be built to customers specification where required. Applications of the unit are diverse; apart from handling containers to hold solids it will also carry tanks and pallets, and with suitable cross-head attachments will pick up loads without the need for pallets.
