AMONO several large applications noted this week are three contract A :o 13 licence switches, involving 23 vehicles, from a large Scottish haulier, Road Services (Caledonian) Ltd, which have been lodged in the Scottish. Northern and Western Traffic Areas. In the Scottish (Southern) Area the company asks to have 11 vehicles authorized on a B licence with conditions "Goods for Crosse and Blackwell Ltd., The Nestle Co. Ltd., James Keiller and Son Ltd., Elizabeth Lazenby and Son Ltd., Chocolate Tobler Ltd.. and Maui Distributors Ltd.". If granted, the company proposes to operate the vehicles from a Glasgow base.

Road Services (Caledonian) has also applied to the Northern and Western Licensing Authorities for six vehicles (in each area) with similar conditions, to operate from Felling and Bristol respectively,

Another large application comes from Scotland (Southern), in the form of a bid for a new A licence by Motor Services (Coventry) Ltd., which seeks to have 10 articulated vehicles licensed with the user " Mainly Rootes Group Products in Great Britain ".

In the Yorkshire "As and Ds" there appears a substantial application by P. 0. Middleton Ltd., of Sheffield, which requires a new B licence authorizing the use of nine vehicles to carry goods for several named customers including H. J. Heinz and Co, Ltd. The application is annotated to the effect that, if granted, a similar number of vehicles will be surrendered from contract A licences.

Yet another car transporter application is notified, this time in the West Midland Area where Furness and Parker Ltd., of Coventry, asks to vary a B licence by the addition of six vehicles to carry "motor cars on wheels, Great Britain ".
