AS a result of the granting of licences by the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners be York Corporation and the West Yorkshire Road Car Co., Ltd., jointly, road-passenger-transport services in• and around York will be reorganized and co-ordinated. This action is being taken under the joint operating scheme of the corporation and company. On Saturday last, the trams on the. Dringhouses route made their last journey, whilst the trolleybus service from Pavement to Heworth was withdrawn, both routes being converted to motorbus working. It is reported that
application is to be made for permission to substitute further buses for trams under the five-year scheme.
RAILWAY CLOSES DOWN.
As the result, it is said, of competitioncompetition from buses, the Portsmouth and Homdean Light Railway running from Portsmouth to Homdean, about 10 miles from Portsmouth, was closed down on Wednesday.
INCREASED WAGES IN LONDON. IN April next, the wages of the drivers land conductors employed by London Transport will be increased by is. and 2s. a week -respectively, and the standard rates of pay will become £4 Sc. 6d. a week for drivers and £4 3s. 6d. a week for conductors.
