Following the MBO in 2008, that resulted in Mark Minors taking control of Gunns, several members of the original management team were left at the business: Lara Gunn, Nathan Gunn and Tarkan 'Muz MazIoum.
However, they were unable to reach agreement with the new owner over the firm's direction and resigned from the business in March last year.
Six months later, once covenants relating to their time at Gums had expired, they set up a new transport operation. Muztrans, operating from Belvedere in Kent.
Lara Gunn says they left the business because "it wasn't working and we didn't want to be there".
She adds: We set up again because transport is our life and what we were brought up with.'
Mazloum says that Muztrans has picked up some work previously handled by Gunns, but has not specifically targeted it. He predicts a first year turnover of around Et 5m.
