Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

our business which involves the collection and delivery of boats on trailers, having been informed that new regulations are to be introduced.

Would you please give us official details and the date when these new regulations come into force?

In the past we have used four-wheel and two-wheel trailers with and without overrun brakes — dependent upon size and weight and towed by cars and light vehicles.

Our requirements cover being able to move boats and the like from 14ft or so long weighing about 5/6cwt. including a two-wheel trailer, up to 30ft boats weighing about 3 Mns.

It will affect the purchase of the type of vehicles we buy for the future and we would be pleased if you can give us any specific information as to weight/length of boat to weight/size of vehicle, type of trailer of differing kinds, etc.

A There is a proposal that regulations on this subject should be made but there are certainly no firm details available nor any indication of when, if ever, they would come into force.

The suggestion of the need for such regulations first appeared in the Government Green Paper on speed limits. How Fast? published in 1968 {paragraph 50}.
