• All the steel components of York Trailer Company's Freightmasters' loadbearing body structure are now being treated against corrosion using the Alchem process which has already been used on York's steel sea-going ISO containers.
The process, which prevents long-term rusting and greatly extends the period before repainting becomes necessary, consists of five stages: alkaline washing, spraying with zinc phosphate rust inhibitor, hot chromate rinsing to prevent electrolyte corrosion, dipping in a phenol epoxy aluminium bath and finally baking at 200deg F.
