Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The TGWU has called the 16 drivers employed by Neales Tours and Travel Ltd, of Teddington, Middlesex, out on _official strike until the two shop stewards recently sacked are reinstated.

Neales has a contract with United Biscuits Ltd to convey their workers to and from their factory. United Biscuits is at present in dispute with its engineers, members of the Amalgamated Engineering and Foundry Workers Union, over a pay claim and the engineers have placed pickets at the gates.

The TGWU shop stewards employed at Neales instructed the other union drivers not to cross the picket lines and, claimed Neales, because they failed to consult with management, they were subsequently sacked.

The other coach drivers were then called out on strike by the union in sympathy. Neales has said that it will reinstate the sacked drivers, but will not accept them as shop stewards.

A spokesman for the TGWU said on Wednesday that it cannot accept Neales electing their union stewards and the strike would continue until the men were reinstated as before the strike.
