TTIS k's prizewinner is Mr. S. A. weeonse, of Bilton, Harrogate, Yorks. His idea concerns the removal and refitting of the Comma T83 CD762 steering box.
When removing the nut which is positioned in the corner of the chassis, says Mr. Toase, it is less difficult if a *in. hole is drilled I fin. from the front spring hanger and 34in. from the outside of the chassis. A socket can then be placed on the nut and a +in. square-drive extension placed through the 4in. hole and onto the socket. He finds that one can tighten the box much more securely by using this method.
Comments Handyman: I have often heard much bad language over the removal and fitting of this box, and see no reason why this idea should not improve matters. Normally, I do not go much for drilling additional holes in a chassis, but this is a safe area.
