Mr. Bernard Hitehiner has been appointed administration manager of the Coventry-based Morton Group of transport and supply companies. He was for 18 years secretary of Coventry City football club.

The sales director of Avon Rubber Co. Ltd., Mr. J. F. Swanborough, has been promoted to assistant managing director. Following the retirement of Mr. P. G. Armstrong as general manager of W. Alexander and Sons (Midland) Ltd., Mr. W. B. Christison, general manager of W. Alexander and Sons (Northern) Ltd., will be responsible for the operations of the former company until he himself retires at the end of this year. Mr. A. M. Newman, traffic manager of Central SMT Co. Ltd., has accepted the position of acting manager of W. Alexander and Sons (Northern) during this period.

Mr. George Dow, British Railways divisional manager, Stoke-on-Trent, has been appointed a director of Corsville Motor Services Ltd., Chester.

Mr. J. Blythe has been appointed regional traffic controller for units of the British Ropes Group in the north east. He was formerly transport manager for Thomas Bell and Co. Ltd. (Be-Ro) of the RankflFlovis/McDougall organization.

At a Burns supper held by the Glasgow area of the TRTA, Mr. A. Carr, former area secretary, was presented with a nest of tables and a table lamp in recognition of his services.

Mr. J. A. Calvert, Mr. J. Smith and Mr. W. W. Chambers have been co-opted to the Leeds and West Riding area committee of the TRTA.

Mr. R. B. Millington is now TRTA representative on the vehicles security committee, succeeding Mr. R. E. G. Wing.

Air Cdre. Edward R. Pearce has been appointed deputy managing director of Rover Gas Turbines Ltd. after being with Rolls-Royce Ltd. since 1952. Mr. Noel Penny (chief engineer) and Mr. John Griffiths (general sales manager) of Rover Gas Turbines, have also joined the board as technical director and sales director respectively.

Mr. P. C. Wickens has been appointed chief engineer of Maidstone and District Motor Services Ltd. He succeeds Mr. R. D. Marshall, who has reached retirement. Mr. Wickens has been chief engineer of Western Welsh.

The chairman of Pitt Trailers Ltd., Mr. E. 0. T. Blanford, who is also a director of Pitt's parent company, Alexander Stephen Co. Ltd., shipbuilders, has been appointed managing director of Fairfield (Glasgow) Ltd, the Governmentbacked company established to continue Fairfield's shipbuilding programme. He remains chairman of Pitt.
