Dart Group doubles its profits
PROFIT AT Fowler Welch-CoolchainS parent company The Dart Group doubled in the six months to the end of September 2008. Interim results show that pre-tax profit rose to £36.3m from £18.4m, Turnover at Dart, whose other main business is airline Jet2.com, also rose to £273m in the first half of 2008 from £253m in the corresponding period last year.
Dart says Fowler WelchCoolchain is well positioned to exploit opportunities arising from the general economic downturn, with most of its core activities being based around the food industry".
It adds: "The company is well protected from oil price volatility, applying a variable weekly surcharge to reflect variations in purchase prices."
