• Christian Salvesen's UK logistics operation boosted its profits by 11% to £20.9m in the six months to the end of September, with a turnover of £235m.

The logistics division, which includes Swift Service, along with UK controlled-temperature work and consumer activities, pushed up its profit margin from 8.5% to 8.9% with £20m worth of new business, including contracts with Vauxhall, the Daily Mail and SP Tyres.
