Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• LDV is in talks with Daewoo about the development of a successor to the Pilot and Convoy families of vans.

The negotiations suggest Daewoo could consider taking a stake in the Birmingham firm. The Financial Times reports that LDV is also seeking Department of Trade and Industry funding for expanded production facilities and an increase in its workforce. LDV has increased sales of its current models over the past year but will need to develop a replacement within a few years.

South Korean manufacturer Daewoo, which sells cars in the UK, is known to be developing a new van for the Polish market, but has no production plant in Western Europe.

LDV already supplies a range of knocked-down kits for van assembly in Poland.
