Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AMORE sensitive version of the Stayput hand comparator is now being produced by the Coventry Movement Co. Ltd. The new U.C.F. model gives direct scale readings down to 0-0001 in.—more than double the sensitivity of the standard models.

The Stayput comparator is designed to replace the function of conventional "go " and " no-go " component gauges. But it is claimed to be more adaptable over a range of diameters and, because of its direct-scale reading, it can be usefully interpreted by an operator on production work. A built-in facility can be used which sustains each reading for as long as is required after the gauge is removed from the workpiece.

The pointer sweeps an actual scale width of + in.. representing 0-002 in. anvil movement. A modification to the mechanism has produced this 250-X magnification which enables the scale to be marked in easily discernible graduations, each representing 0.0001 in. reading—very fine deviations from tolerance are thus readily detected.

This latest Stayput comparator is available in a range of sizes covering diameters from -Iin. to 4 in., with English or metric scales. Standard models in the same size range give direct readings down to 0.0005 in, or 0.00025 in.

Made by: Coventry Movement Co. Ltd.

Prices: New U.C.F. model, from £7 10s. to £8 5s. depending on size; standard model, from .£6 to £6 15s.
