THE Jones 10-10 10-ton mobile crane produced by K. and L. Steelfounders, Ltd., Letchworth, Herts, has been superseded by a new model, the KL 10-10 Mark III. The latest unit has a lifting capacity of 121 tons at a 10-ft.

radius and a redesigned cab. The earlier crane had an 8-ft.-wide

conventional cat. For the Mark III this has been replaced by a narrow compartment offset to the off side. Two _sets of driving controls are provided, permitting the driver to face either to the front or rear.

The rearward driving position incorporates the crane controls. As the cab is offset, the cantilever-type jib (a strut-type jib *is also offered) can be lowered on to a bolster beside it to reduce the height when travelling.

Included in the standard specification is a power lowering system which employs the braking effect of the main engine, a Leyland 0.600 unit, to give steady lowering at a wide range of speeds. 'rhe new machine has a lifting speed of up to 100 ft. per min., can travel at 30 m.p.h., and weighs 241 tons. It can slew through a full circle in 24 sec. It is distributed in the U.K. by George Cohen Sons and Co., Ltd.
