Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AMENDMENTS to the Construction and Use Regulations which came into force on Monday (The Commercial Motor, November 27) have been extended to traeklaying vehicles. The main changes deal with the use of farm tractors to carry loads, land-implement conveyors, lighting equipment, reflectors and brake-pressure warning devices.

The new provisions are contained in the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Track Laying Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations, 1959 (Stationery Office, 4d.), which come into force on December 21.

SECURITY SHOW A SUCCESS THE vehicles security committee of the Road Haulage Association, who met on Tuesday afternoon, were well pleased with the response by operators and the Press to the exhibition of security devices held in the morning (see page 631). Among matters discussed by the committee were the screening of drivers, the provision of attended parking places, the establishment of a fund from which drivers who helped to apprehend thieves could be rewarded, and the appointment of a full-time security officer to advise members of the Association. No conclusion was reached, but the committee will meet again on January 25.

GANG HOLD UP LORRIES

EABLY Tuesday morning two lorry drivers were ambushed by six men in a car near Markyate and taken• to Epping Forest. Later their vehicles were found in Canning Town with 12 tons ,f aluminium and other metal, worth some thousands of pounds, missing.
