The accident happened at Sam on Monday morning (8 August). The Volvo truck was travelling along the A31 in Wimborne carrying a bad of electrical cables from Carlisle to Spain, heading for Poole docks. It failed to negotiate a roundabout and instead travelled straight across the middle and then careered through a tall hedge and ploughed through three front gardens, before finally embedding itself in the front of At Saints Church.

Miraculously, the truck hit the only unoccupied building in the road. The driver, a 33-year-old from Airdrie in Scotland, was taken to Poole Hospital with a suspected broken ankle. The passenger, his 12-yearold stepson, who was asleep in the bunk in the cab escaped with minor cuts and bruises.
