NORIEAMFTONSHIRE police are hunting a man who crashed into a car during a police chase before hijacking a truck and escaping.

The incident happened at around 9.50am on 1 August when a green Vectra failed to stop for police on Barrack Road in Northampton. It drove up Leicester Street, through pedestrian bollards before heading off along Regent Square. It later headed onto the A45 where it was involved in a collision with a red Fiesta which it pushed into the central barrier.

The offender continued to drive to Earls Barton where he hijacked a truck and demanded that the driver take him to a nearby services. He was followed by police before stopping mid-way between the Earls Barton junction and the Nene Valley Services where the offender made off on foot.

The hijacker is described as white, in his early 30s, about 6ft lin tall with short black hair.

He was wearing a white and blue checked short-sleeved shirt and dark trousers.
