Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A pre-production version of Cummins' soon-to-be-launched Mu l truck engine is running in a Seddon Atkinson Strato tractor with an unidentified Scottish operator on field trials. The new M Series 11-litre engine will be launched at the Hanover Show in September along with a com• pressed natural gas (CNG) version of Cummins' existing B Series 5.9-litre engine.

However, Seddon Atkinson says that it will not be taking Mll engines for full production until at least the middle of 1995. It is also unclear whether the M1 I will be run alongside existing versions of Cummins 10-litre L Series or whether it will replace them. Few details are available about the Mll beyond the fact that it is expected to be available in power ratings from 305 to 380hp and will meet the forthcoming Euro-2 legislation on emissions.

The M Series engine is a modern unit injector engine with Cummins' own CELECT "full authority" electronic fuel management system. CELECT is currently offered only on the 1,10-350E engine and on the 14-litre straight six in Seddon Atkinson, ERF and Foden chassis.

The compressed natural gas version of the six-cylinder, 5.9litre B Series engine has been developed with two power ratings and is being aimed at the midi bus market and urban delivery truck sector.

The arrival of the CNG B Series engine follows the first use of an 1,10.240G gas engine in a ERF EC10 rigid operated by the Body Shop (CM 26 May1 June 1994).

0 Seddon Atkinson is developing a production version of its lifting push axle six-wheel Pacer municipal chassis which was shown at the IWM Show in June. The air-sprung positively steered second axle can be raised to provide extra traction to the drive axle when operating off road and to reduce tyre scrub.
