THE LATEST Financial Survey and Directory of Commercial Vehicle Dealers (ICC; £85) is now available; it shows the turnover/profits/assets/liabilitiof 768 firms. A further 33 limited companies had their files examined. However, their latest filed accounts were considered too old to be of general interest, or were already included in a recent edition. Twenty more with name changes were similarly treated.

Companies are not included if their principal activities are not considered applicable, if they are no longer trading or are considered to be too small in size.

According to the provisions of the Companies (Accounts) Regulations 1979, a company which is neither a holding company nor a subsidiary and whose turnover does not exceed Elm need not disclose particulars of its turnover. This threshold was formerly £250,000.

ICC also provides Business Ratio Reports giving an in-depth analysis of the performances of named individual companies in individual sectors, enabling readers to differentiate between successful companies and those less so. In the transport Industry, these categories Include: commercial vehicles; foreign vehicle distributors; freight forwarders; road hauliers; and those in vehicle rental and leasing.
