Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW TYPE of radiator shutter designed for use on light commercial vehicles and vans has been introduced by Kysor Industrial.

The Mini-Shutter unit has been developed using Kysor's experience of fitting radiator shutters to large trucks and buses and is similar to an existing system used on Carbodies' FX4 diesel-engined taxi.

The Mini-Shutter vanes are operated by an electric motor, controlled by a temperaturesensitive switch located within the cooling system.

Whenever engine coolant temperature drops below the manufacturer's recommended optimum, the motor closes the shutter vanes restricting the airflow to the radiator. Conversely, whenever additional cooling is needed, the vanes are opened.

On vehicles fitted with a MiniShutter system, Kysor claims engine temperatures are maintained to within plus or minus two degrees centigrade of the ideal operating temperature. As a result, combustion efficiency is improved, giving lower fuel consumption and longer engine life.

Kysor Mini-Shutter kits are available for FX4 taxis, Bedford Astra and CF 350 diesel vans and Fiat 30.9 Daily vans. Prices range from £112 to £133 plus vat depending on the vehicle fitted. The shutters are available through commercial vehicle dealers, with the average installation time being between two and six hours.

A minimum clearance of 57mm(2.25in) is required between the radiator and grille for front-mounted shutters and 101mm(4in) for rear mounted units.
