• An additional 650 Italian road haulage permits are to be made available for 1972, announced Mr John Peyton, Minister for Transport Industries, this week following recent discussions in Rome between DoE officials and the Italian Ministry of Transport.

The additional permits will not affect the present 3000 normal permits of the general quota but will applyi only to special types of traffic consisting mainly of refrigerated goods or specified goods of "importance to Anglo/Italian trade". It will not, therefore be possible to admit any more new firms to Anglo/Italian traffic during the current year.

The DoE is to contact shortly those operators already in receipt of permits whose traffic comes within the scope of the increased quota.
