The Transport Users Group, Manchester is offering small hauliers a way of beating rogue customers who promise a rate on the phone and then refuse to pay it or keep operators waiting for payment.
It says hauliers can ask clients to fax details of a return load to its office; it will then forward a copy to the haulier and keep another just in case the customer does not pay or attempts to pay less than the agreed rate. Contact TUG on 061-866 8599.
