Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

six routes

• Six bus routes currently operated by London Buses under contract to London Regional Transport are being offered for re-tender.

This follows a financial review, showing that the full costs of operating the routes are not being covered by the present contract prices.

LRT says that the continued operation of the routes is not in question. London Buses will run them to the existing timetables until revised arrangements can be made, and new contracts will be based on the existing service specifications.

The routes in question are: 79A (Edgware-Alperton), 84A (Turnpike Lane-Barnet), 125 (North Finchley-Winchmore Hill), 179 (Barking-Chingford), 179A (Chingford-Yardley Lane Estate) and 261 (Bromley Common-Lewisham).

▪ Routes in the Harrow, Bexleyheath and Kingston areas are also being re-tendered or re-negotiated, for the same reasons.
