Munro (Highland) loses its appeal against revocation

THE TRANSPORT Tribunal has upheld the decision of Transport Commissioner Joan Aitken to revoke the 0-licence held by Allness, Ross-shire-based Munro (Highland), formerly known as Munro & Sons (Highland).

Munro had appealed against Ailken's decision to revoke its 0-licence for 16 vehicles and 11 trailers with effect from 30 June. It also objected to the disqualification of former director Pamela Munro from holding an 0-licence for two years and directors David and William Munro for seven years.

The Tribunal had given permission for the group to continue to run four specific vehicles until 24 July. However, the appeal was rejected, stating: "The IC was dealing with an operator with a long list of prohibition notices and a history of road accidents. To an extent, the latter was overshadowed by the fatal accident, but what was common to all was the company's reluctance 'even now' to accept fault."
