Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

independent dealership European Vehicle Sales (EVS) is active within the domestic market, as well as being an exporter — it has an operation in Mombasa, Kenya.

"We keep a stock of about 50 Mercedes-Benz tractor units there, split equally between Actros and Axor," managing director Anthony Wright (right) says.

"Everything we export to Kenya has to be less than seven years old, and it's increasingly the case that UK and export buyers are competing for the same vehicles.

"It used to be the case that a new truck would do three or four years with a big fleet, then do another three

or four years with a UK hauler who had bought it used, then be exported," he says.

"These days, though, it's becoming increasingly likely that it will be exported immediately after its first owner hasIdisposed of it."

If that is the situation, then it is a trend that will exacerbate any shortage of used trucks on the do estic market, and help to push prices up.

K prices are not going up yet, but I think they will tart to do so before Christmas, although I doubt the will go through the roof," Wright observes.

"The economy is starting to get a bit busier and good stock is becoming more difficult to track down."
