Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Betts, Kirkcaldy

• The licence held by Fife hauliers James Ogg and Charles Bell was revoked when they failed to appear at a disciplinary inquiry into maintenance standards. In addition, Scottish TC Michael Betts disqualified the Iwo men from holding or obtaining an Operator's Licence for 12 months. The partners, of Westwood Road, Kirkcaldy, had been called to Edinburgh because of concern over their maintenance record.

Betts turned down the offer to surrender their one-vehicle licence. Betts said prohibition notices had been imposed on the partners' vehicle and he was no longer satisfied that there were adequate maintenance arrangements. The partners had failed to respond to Traffic Area Office requests.

Betts: Unhappy about maintenance.
