Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

With the arrival of its three-axle Atego rigid. M-B (UK) now has to decide what to do about a new eight-wheeler. The current left-hand drive Actros 8x4 is too heavy for the UK tipper market. The solution is either to fit the narrower Atego cah on to the Actros chassis or add another steered axle to the latest 6x4 chassis and try to fit in a more powerful engine under the Atego cab.

One candidate is the in-line-six 0M457 engine. Developed jointly with Detroit Diesel, the six-pot 0M457 has the power—about 400hp—and the dimensions (unlike the vee-six in the Actros 1835 and 1840) to go under the smaller Mercedes cabin.
