Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• In a Iwo-compartment insulated van body built by A. Cheeseman of Leeds, near Maidstone, Kent, a thermostati-;ally controlled fan is mounted in an aperture connecting the two compartments. The foremost 8ft 4in. length of the body is directly refrigerated by a Weathertrol D 11E unit mounted conventionally on the front bulkhead. The rear compartment is 511 6in. long and can be used for carrying foodstuffs at near-ambient temperatures. But when the total volume is needed for fresh meat and so on, at around 38 to 40deg F, the inter-compartment fan can be switched on to draw cold air from the front into the rear section.

G. G. Baxter Ltd, of Sarre, Birchington, Kent, to whose specification the body was designed, has put three of them on the road, carrying the company's meat products. Thanks to the different combination of box temperatures in the two compartments, pies (at room temperature) and frozen foods (at about Odeg F) can be carried when required.

Construction of the bodywork includes the use of' white colour-impregnated glass-fibre panels for the interior, on an aluminium frame, with alloy outer cladding. A .2in.-thickness of slabbed polyurethane insulates the whole body. Galvanized

racking is fitted in both compartments. Double doors with cam-lock fixing are employed on the nearside, providing access to the directly refrigerated compartment.

The Weathertrol unit adds 2cwt to the van's weight. On Baxter's 11ft-wheelbase Leyland Terrier TR 650 chassis the unladen weight is 3 tons 17-icwt, giving a usable payload of more than 2 tons lOcwt. The vehicles are loaded overnight and plugged into a mains supply For stand-by running. A typical day's operation involves 150 miles running with between 35 and 40 drops, within a 100-mile radius of Sarre.
