Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

L`ROM the end of this month all Scammell 12-ton semi-trailers and auto-coupled Fourtraks will be fitted as standard with this new Supersafe Mk. HI undercarriage (above) as standard. The new equipment incorporates a 17 in.-diameter turntable and the undercarriage is of the non-collapsible type; if there is a failure to lock on coupling, the front end of the semi-trailer will only drop a short way before the undercarriage is arrested by a stop in the form of an extra crossmember.

A spring steel guide buffer which prevents unnecessary movement when the semi-trailer is working in the normally coupled state also has the effect of positively pulling down the undercarriage when uncoupling takes place. The new coupling gear is interchangeable operationally with the previous standard 6/12-ton type and it has been designed to enable an automatic break-away brake system to be incorporated ; this will become available later.
