LORRY driver members of the Transport and General Workers' Union are to press for full £6 a week wage increases under the Government's pay policy. This was decided at the annual road haulage conference, this year brought forward so •that a recommendation could be used during the annual wage negotiations which start this month.

Besides urging local officials to press for full £6 settlements, the conference recommended a £5 a night subsistence allowance for overnight stops. It called on employers to pay all costs associated with obtaining an hgv driver's licence.
