DEPARTMENT

For some years past the " Supply Department has been a regular and, we believe, a not unwelcome or valueless feature of this journal. Opportunity has regularly been taken shortly to mention under this heading, the many new, improved and altered features in any way bearing on the subject of workshop, garage, and users supply and demand. The huge increase during the last year or so in the importance of the commercial-motor industry and in the numbers of users of commercial-motor vehicles, has caused us to decide to pay still greater attention to the daily needs of the user in this respect, and to the efforts made by enterprising firms in the industry to meet the demands.

The modified heading of this page, a but slight variation from that which has stood us in good stead for nearly five years, will serve to convey to our readers the scope of the treatment which the subject will continue to receive at our hands. A constantlyincreasing number of letters reaches these offices week by week, asking for information as to where this or that particular supply is to be obtained. From firms in obscure parts of the British Isles, and far

distant depots overseas, come inquiries as to where piston rings, drawn tubing, and dozens of other supplies may be obtained. Especially from abroad do we constantly receive letters asking for information as to the makers of industrial-vehicle supplies of all kinds, ranging from valve nuts to complete vehicles.

It is our intention, therefore, in future to devote rather more space.than has been our custom hitherto to information of this kind. The illustrations accompanying this information will invariably be as interesting as are those on the other pages of this journal.

Having finally arrived at this decision, we have taken advantage of the coincidence of the Machine Tool and Engineering Exhibition now being held at Olympia, to inform our readers of the latest interesting appliances and supplies there being shown, and we may aptly do so under the new heading.

No attempt has been made to embody a stand-tostand report of the exhibits at Olympia. We have rather endeaveured to present our readers with a notice of the supplies shown, such as will, in our opinion, be of value to them.
