Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Christopher Walton SOME 120 Wincanton employees at its shared user sites in Daventry and Greenford have entered a formal consultation with the irm following the decision by retailer Best Buy to close its stores in the UK.

The US electronics retail giant had opened 11 stores in the UK as part of a joint venture with Car

phone Warehouse in the past year, but a statement issued by both parties says: “[The stores] do not have the national reach to achieve scale and brand economies.” All 11 stores will close, subject to consultations with employees, by the end of the year.

A spokeswoman for Wincanton says: “Should this proposal go ahead, the operations undertaken on behalf of Best Buy at Wincanton’s shared user sites in Daventry and Greenford will inish at a date to be agreed. This will affect 120 employees who are assigned to the Best Buy contract and Wincanton is immediately entering into formal consultation with them.

“Both Best Buy and Wincanton wish to make it clear that this is in no way a relection of the commitment and contribution of the Wincanton teams for Best Buy at Daventry and Greenford,” adds the spokeswoman.
