Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As the data reveals, more than half of all theft from vehicles is accounted for by stolen fuel, a trend rapidly on the increase. Coutts says: “Initially I thought it was because we had a period where we only recorded fuel theft over 1,000 litres, but checking the figures, it’s rocketing.” And fuel thieves are becoming more sophisticated,

explains Coutts, as they will use specially adapted vans, fitted with pumps and bowsers, to drive up and down roads targeting trucks parked in laybys. Vehicles parked with their tanks away from the road, facing woodland for example, are much more of a target for fuel thieves than those with tanks facing the road, she adds.
