Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SALESMEN Al Volvo dealership Thomas Hardie's used truck centre have a particularly demanding task in hand. They're busy disposing of a selection of '01-registered FM? 4x2 tractor units formerly operated by TK Maxx, and producing an extremely modest 310hp.

"As it turns out they're proving particularly popular with driver training schools, and we've been able to supply them to firms that transport packaging too, says Jonathan Bownes. Trailers full of packaging material weigh next to nothing, and certainly don't require a 420hp 6x2 unit to pull them.

"A few of them are being stretched and turned into rigids," he continues. -We've sold some to people who are using them to shift cargo loads of glass from one side of a site to another, and they may also appeal to operators who haul trailers around big cities such as Birmingham."

Grinding along at low speeds in stop-start traffic, they don't really need a maximumpower unit either.

Hardie is making a point of targeting owners of old 320hp FL10s, pointing out that the FM7 is more frugal, offers the same amount of torque, and is 250kg lighter. And the price? £12.000 apiece.

"As a consequence, they're not really all that suitable for people looking for shunters," says Bownes."They usually want something that's a bit cheaper and a bit older."
