Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BP and its tanker drivers may have settled, but there's trouble brewing at Texaco. Chris Tindall reports.

A GROUP of 74 BP tanker drivers have been offered final-salary pensions after the T&G union threatened strike action over the oil giant's decision to move them onto a money purchase scheme.

The offer came at the end of intense negotiations between the T&G and RP. The drivers had finalsalary plans with their previous employer, Exelz they were transferred to BP after it decided to take the delivery contract back in-house. They will now join the BP Gas final-salary scheme.

Ron Webb.T&G national secretary for transport, says: "This is very good news for our members and has come after some pretty hard talking on both sides." BP told the T&G four months ago that it planned to move the drivers into a money purchase scheme. In response the drivers voted for a five-day strike which was cancelled at the last minute.

• About 180 drivers employed by Wincanton on its Texaco contract have voted for industrial action after rejecting a 5% pay offer. But Webb says: "They 1Wincanton I are being more positive than in the past and we are going to be involved in a series of negotiations with them during November."

The results of the ballot won't be announced while discussions vs ith Wincanton continue, he adds.
