Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• ZF is providing over 4:4m towards a venture with Russian truck maker Kamaz to build Ecosplit gearboxes in Tatarstan.

The 4:283m operation, known as Kamsib, is 50% owned by Kamaz with the rest held by Saxony Industrial Partnership Association— of which ZF has a one third stake.

Work on the factory will start in mid-1996 with production to begin in the spring of 1997. ZF will oversee the project as well as providing some of the production management.

The transmissions will be built under licence and carrying the Kamaz name. During the start-up period transmissions will be shipped from other ZF factories but gearboxes could eventually be exported from the Russian plant.

ZF is also be providing synchronising technology for Kamaz's own gearbox— manufactured in the factory which was damaged by fire in April 1993. Following the fire, KamDizel, the Cummins/ K amaz joint venture, has been refurbished and is capable of building 50,000 engines (8.3 or 10/11 litre units) per year.
